Our approach

A philosophy built on an Italian legacy

Cornerstones Education is inspired by the globally recognised Reggio Emilia approach: celebrating creativity, curiosity, and the child as an active learner. While rooted in early years practice, these principles extend seamlessly into the primary phase, shaping a curriculum driven by enquiry, collaboration, and meaningful experiences. At every stage, children’s voices are valued, their ideas explored, and their potential nurtured through a dynamic and responsive approach to learning.

Consistent pedagogy

Every project in the Cornerstones curriculum is built around the same four-stage learning framework: Engage, Develop, Innovate, Express.

Engage sparks genuine curiosity, an immersive experience, a big question, something that gives children a real reason to learn. Develop builds secure knowledge and skills through carefully sequenced teaching. Innovate puts that knowledge to work through creative, applied challenges that require children to think rather than reproduce. Express gives children the opportunity to reflect, present and celebrate what they have learned.

This consistent structure does two things that matter enormously in international schools. It gives children a rhythm of learning they come to trust, regardless of which teacher or year group they are in. And it gives teachers, regardless of their backgrounds and training, a shared pedagogical language that enables curriculum coherence.
