Built by subject experts to give every child an understanding of the beliefs and worldviews that shape our world.
When RE is taught well, children don’t just learn facts about different religions. They develop a genuine understanding of what people believe, why those beliefs matter and how faith shapes the way people live. That’s a profound kind of learning that prepares children for life in a diverse society. But RE is one of the hardest subjects to teach well. Many teachers feel anxious about handling sensitive topics, representing faiths they don’t personally practise or navigating the expectations of different local frameworks. That’s why we built a carefully sequenced RE curriculum that gives every teacher the knowledge, confidence and resources they need to teach RE with sensitivity and depth, whatever their background or experience, with a religious education curriculum that handles the complexity of the subject for them.

Children engage with RE lessons with genuine curiosity, asking thoughtful questions about belief, values and the way people live. Your teachers handle sensitive topics with confidence, supported by expertly planned lessons and resources that represent each faith with accuracy and respect. And your RE lead has a clear view of coverage across the whole school, from Nursery to Year 6, with the confidence that every religion is being taught with the depth and sensitivity it deserves. This is the reality for primary schools using the Cornerstones RE curriculum.
Four reasons why schools choose the Cornerstones RE curriculum to strengthen their subject provision.
Breadth and balance
Our RE curriculum covers six world religions — Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism — with equal care and depth. Each religion is explored through its festivals, celebrations, significant individuals, beliefs and values, giving children a genuinely broad and balanced understanding of the world's major faiths.
Sensitivity and accuracy
Every project is expertly planned and carefully reviewed to ensure each faith is represented with accuracy, respect and sensitivity. Teachers have everything they need to handle complex and personal topics with confidence, without the anxiety of having to research and plan these lessons themselves.
Flexibility for local frameworks
RE requirements vary between local authorities, and schools must follow the programme of study set by their SACRE. Our RE curriculum is built with that flexibility in mind, allowing schools to adapt content to meet their local framework requirements without compromising on quality or coverage.
Teacher confidence
You don't need specialist religious knowledge to teach this curriculum brilliantly. Every project comes with clear lesson plans, high-quality resources and detailed background knowledge that gives teachers the confidence to explore beliefs, values and worldviews with their class, whatever their own background or experience.
Whether you’re starting from scratch or looking to strengthen what you already have, a curriculum conversation is the best place to start.
As my staff are familiar with the Cornerstones curriculum, they're able to make those threaded cross-curricular links more explicitly.
