Designs of the Islamic World
During this project children explore the distinctive features, patterns and motifs found in Islamic art and design. They explore how geometric shapes, symmetry and repetition are used to create intricate decorative designs. Children experiment with creating patterns on paper, with fabric and in clay, developing their artistic techniques and understanding of pattern. They then apply their learning to design and make a high-relief clay tile decorated with geometric patterns and motifs
