The Viking Age: Fear from the Sea
During this project children work as historians to explore who the Vikings were, why Lindisfarne mattered, and how the Anglo Saxons fought back. By examining artefacts from the Coppergate Dig and conducting research, children will learn how the Vikings lived, worked and organised their communities, as well as what they believed in. Finally, children will learn how the Viking era ended and the causes and consequences of the significant events of 1066.
